new screen not working nor is the vibrating motor.

Hi guys, last week I replaced my iPhone 5 screen before I did it the old broken screen was still displaying and responding to touch I shut the phone down and proceed to change the screen. After I had finished I went to turn the phone on and it was blank I thought maybe I had less battery than I thought so I plugged it into my computer iTunes opened and asked me to unlock the phone which I can't. I was on the web looking for possible answers for a few hours and had no luck I then realised that my phone is no longer vibrating when I connect it to my computer and made sure it wasn't working by flicking the silence switch on the side completely dead. I've had a friend who's replaced iPhone 5 screens and they couldn't get it working either. I would appreciate any help at all I've tired everything from holding the home and lock buttons down the restart, entering DFU mode and leaving it charge for a couple of days.

The phone "works" because it is recognized by iTunes.

There are a couple of possibilities here:

  • You have a bad screen.
  • You incorrectly connected the screen assembly
  • You damaged the backlight circuit on your device (logic board)

Can you test the replacement screen on another device to see if it does work? Also inspect the connectors on the logic board and on the screen assembly flex cables to see if they are damaged.

It's not the screen I tired the old on in it and it didn't work then and when I checked the cables and connectors they didn't appear to be damaged in anyway.

If the old screen (which worked prior) also has the same problem, then you probably damaged the backlight circuit on your phone. Did you unplug the battery before removing or installing a new screen? When re-connecting a screen, if the connectors are not aligned properly, they can short out pins.

If the battery is still connected, then you may have damaged some circuitry.

Try holding a flashlight up to the screen when it's "on" and see if you can see then screen
