Phone won't charge after battery replacement?!

Hi!

I'm using the HTC One M7, (which I know is a bit outdated, but I like it). I've used it for like 2,5 years, and my only problem with it is the battery life. So I ordered a new original battery and replaced it yesterday. After 3+ hours the battery change was complete, (I followed a video on youtube) and I booted up the device. It worked fine! There was only 6% battery power left, since the replacement battery have been sitting on a shelf since 2015. I plugged in the charger, but it didn't charge. At this point the phone had 4% left and was running, but it didn't accept any charge. Then it ran out of battery and died. I tried leaving it on for hours to charge, but the orange light that usually shines wouldn't come on. I've tried holding down the power button and volume up or down, or all of them. Still nothing. I've tried a 2,1 ampere charger to "jump start it". But that didn't work either.

When I plug it in to a USB-port on my computer it says: "unknown usb device needs more power than the port can supply".

So, should I give up and change back to the original battery or is there anything else I could try?

Thanks

put the old battery back in, see if it charges. If it does, you know you got a bad battery

Yeah I tried this and the phone is charging normally with the old battery. The battery I ordered must have been faulty.

Thanks for the help!

Most sellers never sell new OEM batteries when they can repackage used batteries. Since your phone is older there are millions of used batteries that the seller can pass off as new OEM stock.
