Are rear housings from the iPod Touch 2nd and 3rd Gen interchangeable?

Hi,

I was doing some touching up on an old iPod I had lying around, and accidentally purchased a replacement rear housing for the 2nd Gen, instead of a 3rd Gen. Will it still be compatible? Thanks
