DXR-8 camera fell - how do I pull it apart?

I hear a little rattle or something loose inside of it. I just need to open it to take a look inside!

@jayeff please see attached picture. I meant the whole thing came out not just the external add on.

Thanks!

Lorena Heemsen is that rattling on the camera or the monitor?

It's inside the camera. I was able to slightly open up the round part of the camera but I can't pull apart the sides so that I may pull it all apart and really get in there!

Hello friends. The lens inside the camera got dismounted after falling on the ground. How to open the camera to put it back in place? Thanks

Hi @ Deren Akinci,

Here’s the ifixit Infant Optics DXR-8 Camera Motherboard Replacement guide.

See the image in Step.12 as it shows where the ribbon cable connects to on the motherboard. Note the procedure written next to the image that describes how to unlock the connector to remove the cable. Make sure it is unlocked before trying to insert the cable and then lock it to hold the cable in.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Infant Optics DXR-8 Lens Replacement guide which may be of some help in refitting the lens

Hi @h_mhanna ,

Check on the base of the camera unit if you can tell whether the "feet" have covers that can be prised out that are hiding any screws. If they are just molded plastic then the whole case may be a of a snap fit construction

Thanks again @jayeff!

yes it looks like the attached picture. I’ll try to take the “feet” covers off.

Hi @h_mhanna ,

Try the pointed end of a Stanley knife - knife with a razor blade as the adjustable cutting edge or a safety razor blade from a scraper to get in and prise them out

Worst case scenario if they wont prise out easily is to push through the centre with a small screwdriver and lift them out this way. This will destroy them but it appears as though the unit doesn't rest on them anyway as they seem to be below the level of the base.

Yes I’ll try to do that when I get a chance and will let you how it goes. Thanks a lot @jayeff

It happend the same to mine. Did you find a way to open it up?

- de

I ended up sending it back. Infant optics is replacing it for us.

- de

But yes once you remove the feet covers you can access the screw and open the camera. Fairly straightforward. Thanks a lot @jayeff
