My iPhone 5 overheats and battery drains VERY FAST

I have an iPhone 5 that did a screen replacement because the previous screen popped out and got broken because the battery expanded. I changed the battery and just put the "broken" screen back on because I didn't have an other screen.

Later I decided to change the screen and bought one of eBay. I looked and found one which said that the brand was Apple so I bought it. When it arrived I put it on. This screen had all the things preassembled on it. Everything worked fine after I finally got it right, but I can not dim the screen brightness. I can move the dimmer to low or to high but the screen brightness doesn't change.

Another important problem is that after I was finished with the repair and started to use it the iPhone gets VERY HOT and THE BATTERY DRAINES VERY FAST.

I don't know what to do. Could someone help me?

Is it an OEM screen from Apple, or third party?

It said on eBay that the screen had apple brand. Other screens I looked at said the brand was no name and unbranded.

There is no such thing as an Apple branded screen. Apple doesn't sell, nor make, screens.

Well it said apple brand. I'm sure they probably lied, than its probably a third-party screen but they also should work

Most likely you have 2 issues, one of them is very urgent. Part of the charging system of your phone is broken. Most likely a filter/fuse on the mainboard. This probably happened in a drop. Its very common in iPhones. Basically the charging system regulates how much current the phone and the battery should draw. If this is not working, the phone will heat up and in worst case, your battery will explode causing it to literally shoot flames out of your phone. That's an extreme case but that is the kind of danger you are working with.

This is not a hard fix but it does require micro soldering skills and equipment.

The other issue with the brightness is most likely the ambient light sensor being blocked or the cable has a small tear. Again, extremely common.

Get the power issue fixed first. You don't want fire shooting out of your phone.
