Shanae since your problem is opposite from the problems this question was about, I suggest you start a new question to avoid confusion

- de

What can I do to get it to start working

- de

Can anyone help?

- de

I have the same problem, but sometimes it comes on. I try it a few days later and it does nothing. If I push the button a hundred times it may or may not come on. I think it’s dead. An 800.00 dollar washer 3 years old.I will never buy a maytag again!!! WHAT A SHAME.

Solución Elegida

Cause 1

User Control and Display Board

To determine if the user control and display board is defective, try pressing the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons work, but others do not work, the control and display board might need to be replaced. Additionally, if the display is not working, check the power to the user control and display board. If the user control and display board has power, but it isn’t working, replace it.

Cause 2

Timer

The timer is frequently misdiagnosed—before replacing the timer, first check all of the more commonly defective parts. To determine if the timer is defective, consult your washer’s wiring diagram and use a multimeter to test the timer for continuity.

Cause 3

Line Fuse

The line fuse blows if the washer circuits are overloaded. If the line fuse blows, the washer won’t start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. Check for shorted out components such as the wires, motor, or drain pump. If you don’t resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too.

I replaced the drainpump (it actually worked fine but the coin trap housing was cracked) with a used drain pump/coin trap. After putting rhe washer back together, it now has no power. If the drain pump shorted it out, would the solution be to replace the drain pump? Or do I need to do something else in addition? Replace a fuse?

I used alcohol & cleaned all visible soldered areas of the control panel. Then, I disconnected, and reconnected, all the fuses. At this moment, it’s completing a wash cycle, so it seems to be working. If you have ANY extra time, make every attempt your capable of to fix, as a new control panel is pricey. Plus, your wife will be impressed. Good luck!

@Lesley Christie ,

Check the washing machine's control board for fuses mounted on the board. They may not look like what you think fuses should look like, so look for components with a designation beginning with F written on the board next to the component, e.g. F1

Usually the power for the pump comes via a relay or solid state switching device (not sure regarding your model if it is as shown above) mounted on the control board and it is protected by a fuse also mounted on the board.

You will probably need an Ohmmeter to measure the fuse for continuity as you may not be able to visually verify that it is OK or not. Measure the fuse with the power totally disconnected from the machine. It should measure 0 (zero) Ohms i.e. a short circuit

Hopefully the fuse specifications will be printed on the fuse case so if it is blown you know what value fuse to get.

As you have no power lights and the washer will not turn on, please check that you have the machine turned on at the power point. If it is turned on, check your fuse box and correct any switch as necessary.

Where is the power point

- de

Check your breaker box.

It appears that my further answer to your question has not been posted. Nevertheless don't worry. By saying the power point, I meant where you plug in the washing mashing into the wall for example? And make sure that if there is a little switch next to the plug, press this button down. This will turn on all power.

If it still doesn't work, plug something else into the same socket. eg: a lamp, or phone charger, just to make sure that socket is working.

If nothing that you plug into the socket works, then you will have to check your fuse/breaker box.

Hopefully by now it will be working. Good luck :)

My washer when plugged in sounds like it’s working I have no display lights

And when the power point and the fuse is fine....and the washer still won't power on....then what?

Condensation from the washer lid causes the control panel connections to become corroded. A special bottle of WD40 (contact cleaner version), clean connections and… voila. It works again.

In my case, I believe that my washer got shorted out due to installing an incorrect part (pump). The electrical worked before installing and did not work after. But I have no idea how to fix this. There is no fuse in the plug as shown in other models. :(

Loose wires on control board, took off the top and reseated the wires, works now.

Could it be the lid latch switch has failed?
