Is there a larger, faster hard drive?

For the original MacBook Air Model A1237 1.8 GHz with an 80 GB 4200 RPM disk drive does there exist a larger and faster drive that can be used to replace the original? Or is the Samsung HS12YHA 120 GB 4200 RPM the only game in town?

Thanks in advance!

In the picture of the hard drive replacement you have for the original MacBook Air Model A1237 1.8 GHz with an 80 GB 4200 RPM disk drive iFixit shows a Samsung HS12YHA 120 GB 4200 RPM disk drive. However, when I visit the Samsung site for the HS12YHA at HS12YHA specs it indicates that the drive is a 120 GB drive with a PATA/ZIF interface and a spindle speed of "3600 RPM class" (really not happy about that) with dimensions of Height: 5.0 mm, Width: 71.0 mm, Length: 54.00 mm. So question 1: Is this drive a 4200 or a 3600 RPM drive?

I'm looking at he guide to replace the drive and seeing a HS082HB/A: Sustitución del disco duro del MacBook Air modelos A1237 y A1304

Could you give a link to what you're referring to?

With the Samsung HS12YHA I think he is referring to the drive being sold by ifixit.

Looks like I messed up on an earlier answer and they messed up on the drive. I'm tired tonight so maybe someone else can locate a suitable replacement drive.

I've emailed my rep at OWC for an answer on this and invited her to answer here. SO don't downvote her if she posts an answer ;-)

+ Angela, thanks so much for the response.

Privately she sent me this: Rats...we don’t have anything for the poor ignored macbook air! How about a fabulous OWC Mercury Extremem PRO SSD for those tired old macbooks? ;-) http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/internal_...

Space is tight in the air and, as I understand it, there is only room for a 5mm high hdd in it. The best that I can find leaves you maxing out at 120 GB while keeping at 5mm. The HS12YHA is all that I can find from Samsung with the PATA/ZIF connector, but Toshiba also has the MK1231GAL which they put at 4200 RPM, has PATA/ZIF and is only 5mm, but according to this page it can only be used for ipod or (excuse the bad word) zune.

So the 240GB 4200 RPM sister drive MK2431GAH which is just 3mm taller would not fit? In general does the manufacturer's specs have to state that the interface is Parallel ATA(PATA)/ZIF in order for the Air's PATA/ZIF cable to work? For this drive the interface is PATA. This drive is so close but yet so far .... Thanks!
