Serious problem after latest OTA update

Hi everybody, I really hope to get some help here...

I have updated my device (Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 5.5") to the latest Android version released by Alcatel OTA a few days ago : 5.0.2-010 08

Since the update I am having serious problems with my Alarm app and with any other Alarm app I have tried.

I notice 2 main problems :

1. The alarm icon vanishes from the notification bar as soon as the app is removed from the "recent apps rack", thus, the alarm doesn't go off.

2. Alarms don't go off when the screen is off and/of locked. So practically I have to keep the screen on all the time for it to work, which is rediculous.

Needless to say none of these was an issue before the OS update.

I read somewhere that the update made changes to app permissions to work in the background but I can't seem to find any way to view or modify this kind of permission (it is not present in the permissions list of the app under Settings>Apps)

Please help !

If not - is there any way to rollback to the previois OS version ?

Contesta esta pregunta Yo también tengo este problema

Es esta una buena pregunta?

Hi jayeff,

First of all - thanks for your attention and answr.

Unfortunately yes, I was aware of this.

:(

My smartphone's notification setting was already on "ALL" so the Priority switch shouldn't really matter. However, just in case, I switched this setting in each of thee apps to Priority - the result, as expected, was exactly the same :

- Alarms not going off when screen is off / locked

- Alarm icon vanishes from notification bar when app is removed from recent app rack.

I also tried contacting the manufacturer who had released this OTA update, let's hope they can help somehow.

Hi @idol,

Really stupid question. Have you done a reset since the update? Backup your phone first if you want to try it. Sometimes it restores any glitches caused by upgrades. It should reload with the latest version just installed. If it still fails you can restore your phone from the default mode with the backup you made and all you've lost is time.

Hi jayeff,

First of all - thanks.

:)

Secondly, your question is not stupid at all and the answer is no, I did not do a full factory reset as of yet.

Actually, I got the same advice from the manufacturer's support hotline as they are still looking into the matter and don't know themselves how long it would take for a bug fix update (it seems the I am not the only one with this problem...).

I will give it a try.

Is there any safe way / app to 1-click backup the phone ?

My photos, contacts, whatsap ecc should be already backed up automatically to my google account.

Hi @idol,

Besides using the backup and restore feature built into all android OS the only other option is to search for third party apps that perform backup/restore, especially on non-rooted devices. There are a lot and it is up to you to decide which one you would prefer, if you wish to go down this road. Pretty certain that initially they would not be one click, but after setup they may be, don't know. For instance, there are apps like Helium (not recommending either way just commenting) that allow you to backup to a SD Card, PC or to the Cloud which you may find more convenient, but again don't know how easy it is to use. You're already doing the right thing by backing up in the first place. You'd be surprised how many don't and are caught out!

Did research for months. Thought the idol 3 would be a great buy. Not so impressed. Slower than I imagined and wont connect to my car Bluetooth at all. Other phones running marshmallow will but this idol 3 will not. Tried factory data reset after the marshmallow update......still no luck.

Alcatel ----Fail !

You can solved the issue in two ways

1 making a hard reset (pwr + vol up) and make all the wipes ( data, cache and dalvik cache if you got acces)

2 try to reinstall de alarm apk corresponding to your android OS version

If don´t want to download all your apps again here is this https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai... its work perfect to me .

Bluetooth no longer stays connected in car, chatted with OnStar, all new updates. Took to dealer, several other phones paired, but not my idol 3 since update. Anyone else having these issues with marshmallow 6?

My wife's Bluetooth sounds really bad and unusable after update. Had to roll it back.

With my Idol 3 bluetooth pairs in my car, but after answering or making a call, people can't hear me on the other end. I've tried all the suggestions, but it hasn't worked. Is there a way to go back to the original Android version the phone came with (and stay there as it wants to automatically update OTA) because the update to 6.0.1 completely screwed the use of bluetooth with my car? The previous version it worked fine.
