It sounds like muffled voices. Also hear emergency sounds when nothing is happening. Does that mean I am being watched?

These walkie-talkies, just like CB radios, operate on radio channels that are free-for-all, and there are only a limited number of channels available. Anyone listening on a given channel can hear anyone else (within a few miles range) speaking on that channel.

Good manners require that you don't break in on, or step on, other traffic, so don't start transmitting on a channel when you hear other people speaking, wait until there is a pause. If a channel is particularly busy, you might want to change channel. Of course your partner should also change to the same channel, so you announce briefly along the lines of "Agent 007, changing to channel X", and your partner should confirm with something like "Agent 700, copied, changing to channel X". ;)

Yep that is it but they are untuned radios they will pick up anything nearbye even interstate 80 or state 3,22 because they are on the same channel as a cb radio is and they can pick up even police army truckers and other gmrs radios

We had a similar incident this afternoon - kind of freaked us out. During a play date at our house with my son’s friends, his friend said he had hidden a WT somewhere and after I told him and our Au pair, they were going to play video games when they got upstairs the heard a voice over the walkie talkie and my son thought it was his friend since one of his friends would be honest enough and it was definitely not him and the other friend was at the Austin Ninjas gym. As they were playing it distracted him and he tried to look for me, calling my name, and he didn’t get any answers. A little after, his other friend’s mom texted me and told us that it was near a rectangular table behind a statue and then we found it behind my desk under an Abraham Lincoln bookmark.

A little helpful. Me and my brother were playing a game with walkie talkies, and we suddenly heard a conversation somewhere else that sounded like a party.

I have a Funkprofi walkie talkie and I heard a bunch of Morse code, and a man saying that he’s going to track my location and telling me to get off his frequency on channel 20! Then I heard him say “Don’t worry, no one knows nothin, ok? No one knows nothin”. Then I heard a lady on channel one talking to me and saying “I can’t hear you” and “Yes”. I kept hearing people who’s voices would cut out on channel three every time a helicopter came by. On channel 17 I heard a robotic sounding lady say a bunch of numbers, and the next day I heard an old man talk about shutting something off and rebooting it! On channel 19 I was with my friend and we heard this robotic man say a bunch of numbers, and beeping noises and we got so scared! We also heard someone else on channel 19 who said something about emergency services! We took the battery’s out!

The wakie-talkies are just on the same line on someone else’s but make sure that you’re kids don’t tell them anything about them or where they live

These radios are on the FRS (Family Radio Service) band which is between 462.5625 and 467.7125mhz. These are no different than all the radios you find selling in pairs in all your big box stores. They all claim to have a 5-10 mile range.

NO, you cannot hear cops on them

NO, you cannot hear CB channel 19 with the truckers.

YES, anyone can get their hands on these.

YES, any business radio can be programmed to these including all the Chinese radios you find on ebay.

YES, as long as people aren't messing around on them, they are convenient to have to keep in touch in short ranges.
