iPhone 6! No cell connection, but all other functions work perfectly!

I have an iPhone 6 that recently stopped connecting to the cell network. I've exhausted every option I can find and have ultimately been told the phone needs to be replaced. All other functions of the phone work perfectly (bluetooth, wi-fi, etc). Every once in a while I will try the sim card in it again and it will work for a very short amount of time and then stop again.

Any ideas what's going on? Is there any part that I can replace to fix the issue?

I've been hearing lately people putting their iPhones while turned off in a freeze to fix no signal issues. Why are people doing this?

- de

Putting the phone in the freezer?

- de

Yeah, the freezer.

Hey Jesse, I have had this similar problem, and in my situation, it turned out that the phone had been reported stolen and was black listed. Hopefully this is not your situation but it is definitely something you can look into. Take the IMEI of the phone and check to see if its clean. You can do that by going to the website below. Hope this is somewhat helpful.

I have, yes. I had also tried the 9.3 beta to see if that would fix it, but it did not.

Try disconnecting the battery there is a small wire circular antenna that plugs in near the battery connection make sure that is connected and that the screws that go back on with the battery put her in the right positions after your reconnect the battery It will say searching after your boot up wait for a minute or so and then do a hard reset holding the home and power button and you should be good to go. If it doesn't get fixed you need to replace the dock connector which is one of the antennas

Do I need to disconnect both the battery and the antenna and then reconnect, or just the battery? Does swapping the dock connector have a pretty high success rate for fixing this issue?

If your phone is under warranty I would take it to the Apple Store or a Apple Certified Repair Facility before I would open it up and check this option. Otherwise you will void any warranty.

- de

Phone is out of warranty so Apple has been no help. Told me the phone needed to be replaced. I just have a hard time believing that there is no part that can be fixed to solve this issue if all other functions of the phone work as normal.

Any word on the effectiveness of the dock connector replacement?

- de

It could be a lot better replacing the dock connector charging port fees because the antenna is directly adhered to the frame which then also ties in to the bezel at the bottom That wraps the whole frame. On the iPhone 6 is people don't realize those are actually antennas if you dropped your phone or damaged the wrap around piece You should try a new frame. Not positive if that will fix it however it's worth a shot

Have you tried cleaning the sim card/tray and or blowing on it? It might sound silly but the water vapor in your breath can strengthen electrical connections between the sim card and tray.

It's reading the sim card just fine. The phone recognizes my number, etc, but there's just no connection to the cell network. Again, it will connect randomly, but the connection only last a few hours generally and the last few times it has only connected to 4G and not LTE.

- de

Then I would agree with some of the other posts and check the antenna connections or consider outright replacing the cellular equipment inside the phone itself.

- de

Also keep in mind when you check your Sim card tray if one of the prongs is bent or broken we will not receive service. For the housing itself that holds the Sim card tray becomes bent doublecheck that that is an easy mistake

- de

So it may be that the sim card housing is bent upward and not pushing the sim card down onto the contacts effectively?
