The screen has nothing on it when turned on. I keep turning it off and on to make sure that it's not a malfunctioning error but it keeps showing up as a blank screen

The camcorder display screen may need to be replaced. If the battery has been checked and is not dead then it is very likely the screen was somehow damaged.
