Can an iphone 1st Gen Broken glass with good LCD be fixed?

Can a broken front glass be removed from the LCD or do both parts have to be replaced on an iPhone 1st Gen? There are websites claiming that the 1st Gen are factory fused together and have to be purchased together. Does anyone know the truth?

And how can you separate the glass from the LCD-panel?

Thanks!

It's all in the installation guide for any of the front parts.

after 1 unsucessful, and 1 semi successful attemt at this, here is how it goes on the 1st gen iphones.

the glass screen is fused(glued) to the back lcd and touch screen.

you can pry piece by piece by breaking the glass off chipping away at it as the glue is so strong u cannot remove in 1 piece.thhis procedure will take 1-3 hours.

once the glass is removed i ordered off ebay a new glass, turned out it was perspex not glass, stuck it on, firstly the touch thru the perspex is not as effective and the perspex scratches easily, also things like the light sensor that locks the screen when u hold it to your ear wont work as they painted the upper black section(instead of tinting)

on my second attemt at removing the glass from another phone i cracked the lcd.

ended up buying on ebay the lcd and bezel unit in 1 piece (about 100 bucks) and installed.

trust me, dont bother trying , was a waste of time in the end.

Hope this helps you as i know info on this is very hard to find, thanks.

Yes, the front includes the front bezel, which surrounds the glass, the glass, and the LCD which lives behind the glass, so the glass can be removed and replaced on its own. However, you'd best make sure the LCD is not damaged as well.

I was listening to the hot new album title name "Recovery Of Genre"

i just bought from itunes, then i began dancing and my iphone fell and i crack the lcd screen. It wasn't crack bad, so i buy a screen protector and just continue to use it, because it's really hard to get the first generation screen to change.

Hope this advise help you.

It took me about 2.5 hours to remove the glass, I used isopropyl alcohol to loosen the glue. Use rubber gloves & keep the area clean, the glass tend to splinter and it ends up all over the place so clean up the area so you won't end getting the glass in other items. I cracked the lens when I started to move fast. The LCD still works, I delayed putting everything together since I lost the home button does anyone know who sells the home button only?
