Ive replaced the dock connector and the battery in my iphone 5s and now the home button wont work whilst the touch id works perfectly... i tried the old dock connector again to see if the new one was faulty but to no avail, urgently in need of an answer, thanks!

You've broken your home button during the repair. You can replace it, but your Touch ID won't work, and don't update, or you'll get error 53 (a bricked iPhone). You can keep he original and use assistive touch, or you can replace the home button without Touch ID. If you replace the home button. Keep the original one, so you can update it. You shouldn't, but possibly could, get error 53 if you have the original home button installed

Everything looks ok hardware wise so i d cant see how its broken?

It is possible that it's not your home button that's the problem. Maybe it's the lightning dock

You could try resetting your settings. However, in my experience, it's usually the other way around. The home button works, but the Touch ID doesn't. Why don't you try disconnecting the battery. Reconnecting the battery, securing the rest of your connections, display, home button. Then power the phone back on, and see if that takes. Also, make sure you have that plate on the back of the home button faced the right way. If it's upside down, it'll make a difference

I would try a settings reset with the new dock before calling it quits.
