iPad mini (A1432) won't power on after adding LCD plate

I replaced the screen and preformed a backlight fuse filter repair. The ipad mini powers up and the digitizer and screen work prior to assembly however, I find that as soon as I install the metal LCD plate, the ipad will no longer power up and requires the battery cable to be removed and reattached. It then will power up as usual. What may be causing this?
