Can I replace the cable of my headset?

I use this headset very often and I like it but only 3 months after my purchase I was having troubles with one of the speakers, it wouldn't make any sound anymore. Later I found out that the cable was broken. Now my question is if I can replace the cable and more important how. If it is replaceable I would like to know where I can order a new cable because turtle beach doesn't offer them.

@mp7767 there are no cables readily available. My suggestion would be to see if you can find a broken set at places like ebay.com etc. Then the fun starts. The cable is soldered to the control box and you will have to unsolder it, mark your wires carefully, there are plenty of ground wires. Take plenty of pictures while you work on it, do not rely on your memory. I repaired plenty of X11 and X12 wires and none of it has been any fun:-) It will take patience, good light and good soldering skills to change it.

Is it possible to buy a 4-pole 3.5mm jack cable ( this is the one they use i think ) and cut one side off so I can use that or is it too hard too separate the right wires for soldering.

where is the wire broken?

I have had cable problems as well but at the plug. It was sufficiently bad that I cant identify which colours go to which poles on the plug. Can you help please ?

I have a final answer to this issue. This for the Turtle Beach PX-22 Headset with a broken plug. The plug is inserted into the Amplifier which in turn plugs into a PC via a USB connector. The plug needs to be low profile or narrow as it wont fit into the amplifier otherwise.

The following cable wire colour to 4 pole plug as follows:

Green - tip;

Red - ring 1;

White - ring 2;

Blue and copper twisted and soldered to - sleeve/ring 3.

I am pleased to say this works perfectly. Additionally, I bought a new cable - 4 pole plug to 4 pole plug. Cut it in half and connected the wires based on 'buzzing through' to the plug with my multi-meter as the internal wire colours in the replacement cable were different colours to the turtle beach internal wires. It was much less bother than using a brand new 'blank' narrow profile 4 pole plug (too much of a challenge to my soldering skills and eyesight!).

I hope this helps for anyone with the same or similar issues.

I was thinking to try to fix it this way too. I'm happy to hear that this will work ( I'm also happy to hear that it doesn't require much soldering skills )
