iPod disabled. Try again in 24 million minutes. How to fix?

This is my Dad's iPod touch, I have never owned an apple device so bear with me.

On a Windows 7 laptop:

-I have Itunes 12, device doesn't show up. Looks like this ipod touch wasn't set up using Itunes on this PC. It asks me to allow access on the ipod when i try and link it to itunes but the ipod is disabled....

-The iPod doesn't show up in my computer

-The correct drivers have been installed, uninstalled and installed again

-Ive restarted my PC more than once

-I've restarted the ipod by holding the Home+Power button numerous times.

Is there anyway to fix this or is the iPod Bricked?

Try connecting the iPod to your PC and then putting it into DFU mode. To do this, plug the iPod in to the USB port on your PC, hold the power and home buttons like you would for a normal hard reset, but when it begins to reboot release the power button while continuing to hold the home button. An iTunes logo should appear on the device or iTunes will just detect a device in recovery mode and prompt you to restore it to factory defaults. Hope this works for you.

So, what you want to do is connect your dad's iPod to your computer and hold the On/Off button until a button that has the iTunes Logo and a charger pointing on to it shows up. Then, go to iTunes and click the icon that has the iPod on it. (It should say the iPod name, color and serial number.) It will say iPod Recovery mode and 2 buttons. Press the button that says update and wait until it has updated. If your iPod still won't work, You want to restore the iPod. If THIS doesn't work, go to icloud.com and log in with your Apple ID, then you go to the Find My iPod Tab. Select Devices and choose the iPod. Then, go to the tab with the details and click Erase iPod. This should work and you'll be able to get your data back with an iTunes back-up. Good luck!
