iPod Touch 5th Gen won't boot passed the APPLE screen

The battery on my 5th Gen Touch went bad. I replaced it and it seems to be charging and working, but it won't boot passed the Apple screen. Comes for about 90 seconds and then shuts off. Also try to connect it to iTunes to do a restore and iTunes doesn't see it.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

It sounds like you're stuck in a boot loop. One way to TEMPORARILY get out of this is to hold down the "+" volume button on your iPod as soon as you see the apple logo appear. Keep holding the volume button! it will take longer than you would think! If this works, then plug it into you computer and restore it.

had to make a whole ifixit account to say thank you SOOOO much for this comment. i've been wanting to restore my old 5th gen iPod touch since it boot looped in late 2018, but sometime in 2019, the home button got stuck and i couldn't find a way to get it into recovery mode without having to hold the home button down. all through the last four years, i would sporadically try to fix the stuck home button to no avail. today, i saw your post and i just had to try it out, and i'm glad to say that my mac is now trying to restore my old iPod touch (while i'm typing this, nothing has happened on the progress bar yet but i hope it works asap)

Hi Mr. Russel,

My Ipod touch 5th gen Ios 9.2 doesn't seem to be responding to this fix. Are their more options? I found no lint or dust either .

Thanks in advance,

Frank

dont know if you still need help but to force restart it you hold down the home button and power button until the apple icon appears. if that doesnt work you can put it into device recovery mode by holding down for even longer while it is plugged in to a computer with itunes open. you can then use the computer to update it or restore it (which deletes everything)

Is there any way to do a manual factory reset without a computer?

That depends, if you know the password and everything, go to Settings>General >Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. If you don’t have the password to it you cannot do this without a computer.

My ipod nano 7th gen doesnt switch on. When ever i try to turn it on i see the apple logo flash and then switches off. I tried connecting it to itunes on my mac but it keeps disconnecting. I somehow restore it and then the battery warning signal comes for few seconds and then it goes back to the point where it was. Can anyone please help me out. Please.
