DESPERATELY NEED HELP! Can't find answers anywhere...

While I was in the US, there was some minor water damage to my iPhone 4s which warped the display a little and caused the flashlight on the back to be on constantly and I couldn't turn the light off. Over the next few days the phone functioned perfectly fine in all areas apart from the flashlight being totally broken now.

Eventually, all of the water had dried in the screen and display was perfectly normal. Gradually the camera on the back of the phone didn't work at all and then the problems started. I had my iPhone plugged into the charger and from 3% it had charged to 100% in a matter of minutes which meant to me there was an issue with the battery.

The next issue I faced was the temperature warning. While my iPhone was charging, a warning display told me that the temperature of the iPhone was too high and that I was recommended not to use it until it cooled down. The device was barely warm, still, I obeyed the instruction, took the phone off charge and let it cool for 20-30 minutes.

When I turned the phone back on, everything functioned normally except for wifi connection. The slider used in settings to turn the wifi on and off was grey and nothing happened when I tapped it. My iPhone power started cutting out and at this point I would not be able to operate it without having it on constant charge. Now every time I have all of these problems and the battery life is at 100% (supposedly).

I've tried connecting my iPhone to a laptop (both iMac and Windows) and the phone doesn't even get past the startup apple logo. It will glow as if to start up, then go black and repeat over and over again.

I want to access Photos, Videos, Contacts, Messages, Notes etc and be able to back these things up without losing them. If there's any way WHATSOEVER that is cheap and doesn't take too long, I'd be willing to buy a home-kit, change the battery myself or take whatever the necessary step is to function the phone just long enough to retrieve all of my things.

PLEASE GET BACK TO ME.

thephantomlama "cheap and doesn't take too long" going to be a challenge. "minor water damage to my iPhone 4s which warped the display a little and caused the flashlight on the back to be on constantly and I couldn't turn the light off. " does not sound like minor damage to me.What you have here is a typical phone that died because of water damage.

STOP continuing to try to charge, sync or otherwise use your phone. This potentially can make a bad situation worse.

The very first step I would take is to disassemble your phone. Remove the logic board and you will have to remove any EMI shields. Take a careful and close look at all components and connectors. Truly assess the damage. Look for major corrosion, evaluate the pins in the connectors etc. Take a look at all connectors as well as cable ends. After that I would suggest that you clean it a couple of times in sterile water, not drinking water. Use a soft brush and clean it very, very thouroughly with the sterile water. Once you got any gross contamination cleaned, use 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and clean your parts some more. For a proper cleaning, use this guide. It was written for a Apple iPhone 3G but it is still pertinent to your phone as well. I can not stress the importance of a good cleaning enough, so do it over and over while replacing the alcohol after each cleaning. Do not use compressed air for the cleaning since that can drive liquid as well as corrosion particles into areas that will cause trouble later on. Do not use drinking water, if you need to use water, use sterile water. Also, you do not need to leave it to dry for a day. Isopropyl alcohol in the higher concentration will evaporate quickly and dissipate the water. The importance here is the cleaning. Best of course would be to get it professionally cleaned Do not forget to replace the battery and in your case most likely the dock connector as well. This is a must and not an option. It will fail if you do not take care of it now. Keep in mind that water damage is the hardest to troubleshoot and to repair. Hope this helps, good luck.
