How do I fix my water damaged phone?

Okay so I bought a water damaged phone on Craigslist. I opened up the phone and I saw no water damage whatsoever. I plan to change the battery. The water marker stickers were red on the logic board, but I saw no signs of corrosion. What do I do? I plan to use rubbing alcohol to clean it up. The lcd water sticker was white, and it seems to have no damage as well.

I don't how to fix your iPhone, maybe you can follow these steps:

1) Turn the iPhone/iPad/iPod off.

2) Dry it off with a towel. Note: Do not dry it off with a blow dryer as this could melt the circuit board and other parts.

3) Put iPhone/iPad/iPod in a bunch of silica packets, or in the bowl of uncooked rice and cover it up.

4) Leave the device in the rice for at least 24 hours and preferably 48 hours. Hopefully, after 24 - 48 hours iPhone/iPad/iPod will have dried out, the logic board wasn’t damaged, and hopefully you can turn it on and the device will work. If not, your next option is to see if it can be repaired without much cost.

Ledge, the liquid indicators really don't mean much. There are to many individuals who have are somewhat dishonest by replacing those with "aftermarket" indicators. I would most certainly treat it as water damaged. You can not go wrong by doing so. Disassemble your phone using these guides. Once it is disassembled, you do need to clean it properly. ON this model you must remove the EMI shields for proper cleaning. You will need high grade isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Use this guide to see how to clean it. Even so it was written for a 3G all the points are still pertinent to your phone. Of course, if you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, take advantage of it. While you are cleaning it, check for any broken, missing or burned looking components. When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone and reevaluate.

Okay so I removed the EMI shields, took out the logic board and battery, yet I still see no signs of water damage. I see no burn marks at all. Does this mean there was minimal water damage take by the phone? I'm going to clean it with alcohol soon.

this is a horrible idea. Rice and any other desiccant will not prevent corrosion. Only follow this advise if you do not like your phone.
