Acceptable Replacement parts from other Models?

I have a 24" that was damaged by a lightning strike. Apple said is a bad logic board. They checked the power supply and it is still good.

I want to put a new logic board in it and hope to pull it out of another machine with say a bad screen.

Which models could I do that with? If I had to just by the logic board and move my CPU and memory, will my cpu and memory fit on many different models of logic board?

I am a newb to Macs so I dont know parts like I do on the PC side.

i understand your effort - but it think you will be paying more then necessary.

faulty imacs are still pricey.

i would sell the faulty imac on ebay and a used working one - it will not cost much more than getting a faulty imac (and never forget - many sellers are not telling the truth about their computers)

So finding a logic board would be out of question as well? I know that some of these can be found at a deal, but I want to know if there is more than one model that will fit in my model.

since i didn't tinker on those two 24" models - i can't tell you if the parts are interchangeable. but to be honest - i would never trust a so called genius! i had imac's with "totally dead" logic boards - the price for a new one was close to the price of a new imac - and in te end - it was a part for 15ct. - find someone in your area who does component level repair - sometimes it's only a coil or something like that - get a second opinion from a free technician
