Flickering pink display background
My mid-2009 15" MacBook Pro has a flickering pink background on the display. Is this likely to be a Logic Board issue, a display issue, or something else?
Thank you,
Michael

Flickering pink background is caused by failing graphics chipset in the Logic Board. Most likely, the logic board will need component level repair to get back to normal. I wish it was as simple as a display replacement.

I just went through the process of installing a new logic board. Upgraded from the 2.80 GHz to 3.06 GHz to make it worth my effort. Bought the processor for just over $330. Unfortunately, I still have the purple/green lines... Looking into buying a new LCD screen now and seeing if the Hi-Res can be compatible with my mid 2009 macbook. Make sure to hook your laptop up to another display and see if that display is having the same lines coming down it! If the secondary display doesn't have lines, your LCD screen is the issue. A replacement used glossy LCD (9CA3) should only be $30. The used hi-res glossy will run $70-$80, but unsure of compatibility.
