Changed Keyboard - Auto Recover from Sleep when opening doesn't work

I changed the keyboard in a MacBook Pro 15 inch Penyrn model, which works fine. The trackboard works fine. My problem is that when the top is opened it doesn't recover from sleep mode. I don't know what I could have done or not done to cause this. I didn't change or replace any other component.

Thanks.

wes

Check the picture for step 12 of the keyboard guide. The middle cable going to the left in this pic is for the sleep sensor. Is there any way this could have been unplugged or damaged during the keyboard install? The magnet is in the display assembly (as bac said), so I highly doubt that was touched.

there should be a small magnet which activates a reed switch - that switch signals the MB to wake from sleep. did you move or lose the magnet?

I'm not sure where the magnet is on your model - I think it might actually be in the display housing? on some older model Mac laptops it is mounted in the lower case, just above the optical drive. it is easy to move if you're not aware of its function.

the other possibility is you've disconnected the reed switch itself although that would be more obvious.

Yes, it goes to sleep when closed but doesn't awaken when re-opened.

I found something about re-setting the SMC. I haven't tried it. Does this sound like a good idea?

tks
