Hi Manny,

We do carry a 1TB SSD for your Macbook model, and it is upgradeable.

MacBook Pro 13" and 15" Retina (Late 2013/Mid 2014) SSD - 1 TB / New

We also have guides on how to replace this on our site.

@Jasen - When do you expect to get them in? It appears they are on back order (last few weeks).

Dan,

I can get back to you on that one soon. We don't regularly order a lot of those, but I can speak with my supervisor about ordering them.

@Jasen - Are any of the SSD's in stock? They all appear to be back ordered (ETA?)

Dan, I just spoke with my supervisor, and found out that we have a lot of difficulty getting ahold of these particular SSDs. I guess Apple has some sort of market control on them, so getting ahold of them is rare. I apologize for this, as we currently have none in stock. Hopefully you'll be able to find them somewhere else online! We do have normal 2.5" SSDs in stock from 128GB to 1TB, but those unfortunately do not fit in this model of MacBook Pro.

@Jasen: Do you know if the Samsung 2TB SSDs would go into a 15" MacBook Pro which has a "hardwired" SSD already? e.g., http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

Thanks,

Steve

If you are speaking about the 2.5" SATA Samsung 850EVO drive it won't fit into the Retina models. They use a custom M.2 blade SSD.

- de

Apple uses an M.2, or samsung does? Im confused by this

- de

M.2 is a collection of different SSD I/O's. Apple uses a custom pinout on their SSD blades. Unlike SATA which had a common strategy, M.2 is scattered which makes it a mess!

Will a Samsung 950 pro work in my Macbook pro mid 2014 retina model?

- de

@John Roger Bell - No, I believe that the Samsung 950 uses the M.2 pinout, while Apple uses a custom pinout like Dan was saying.
