Water (Beer) damaged iPhone (desperate for photos)

I had a very small amount of beer spilled on a glass table and my phone which was resting on the table unfortunately got wet on the back face. I dried out the phone all day on sunday and turned it on monday evening and it powered up ! Thinking it was working as normal - I powered it off (sometimes when the 3g doesnt work it helps to turn it off and on again) - Needless to say - it didnt come on again !!

I have taken it today (thursday) to a tech repair specialist at 9 am - just been off the phone to them at 12 noon and they told me they soaked the parts in alcohol and reassembled.

No good !!

I am hoping against probable reality that they just didnt give it enough time to dry out and that it will power up for me when i plug it in when i collect it on my way home.

This is unlikely - so my question is - because all I want off it is my photos ! , i cant believe that the memory on the phone is destroyed when it worked perfectly for me on monday evening until i powered it off (cringe)....... Is there ANY way that I can switch the storage with another iphone 4 - or basically is there anything that I can do. Im pretty desperate.

You may want to have someone give it a proper cleaning. If they just put the board in alcohol, then that's not a proper cleaning. The shields should have been removed from the board first, and then it should go through an ultrasonic cleaning.

Check if this was done, and if not, see if someone local can do that or check out iPad Rehab.

Brian, besides the excellent answer by David there is not a whole lot that you can do. All files are stored on memory IC's which are BGA Ic and of course soldered to the logic board. Unless you have special tools and special skills, it will be pretty much impossible to reball those chips to a new logic board. There are professional recovery services that specialize in this, but those are extremely costly.
