iPhone 6 water; do I need to take the EMI shields off?

I had a bit of an accident when I went swimming with my iPhone 6. I have worked quite a lot with previous iPhones and took my iPhone 6 apart and did all the tricks;

ScubbingBubbles, left it in 95-ish % alchohol for a few days and cleaned all contacts and solders with a soft brush. I bought a new battery as well.

The phone is still dead and when I connect the power the CPU gets really hot. I have not removed the EMI shields though, is this something I need to do in order to see what is going on under them?

To properly clean it out, you do need to remove all the shields and run it through an ultrasonic cleaner. If you're just looking to do it just this one time, it would be cheaper to pay someone to do it.
