Why do I get an apple support sad face?

I installed a new battery checked all the connections. Everything appears good. I've tried resetting but it's no use. Itunes does not recognize. It was working fine before I opened it up. All I did was change the front plate and back cover and battery to resell.

jdennis61, check the diagnostics mode and test your hard drive. Check on here for the how to as well as what the results mean. Right now it appears that your hard drive is not responding. You also want to make sure that your iPod gets recognized by iTunes and that it will come up as an iPod that needs to be restored. It is possible that your hard drive is not recognized due to missing firmware. then check the hard drive cable, make sure that it is properly inserted. If it is , consider replacing the hard drive.
