mostly black iPhone 5 lcd after screen replacement.

After initially replacing it the new screen worked completely fine with no dead spots, but the home button wouldn't work. So I opened it back up to fix the home button. Shorting the two prongs worked for the home button, but after power-cycling the battery and re-seating the button it still wouldn't work. Unfortunately another problem developed: since opening it back up the right 2/3s of the LCD screen is completely black but is still completely responsive to touch (and the backlight still works). I've tried reconnecting the digitizer and lcd connecters and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery both multiple times to no avail. So now both the home button doesn't work and the screen is mostly black.

Hi,

Sounds like a faulty LCD, replace that, as for the home button, it obviously works still if you shorted the contact prongs, it's either misaligned, or the home button you have installed is faulty, test it by putting the contacts on the home button on the prongs and clicking it, if it doesn't work, will need replacing. :-)
