Help with iPhone 4 not connecting to phone network after battery repla

I just replaced my iPhone 4 battery and now I cannot connect to my wireless service. Was confused on some of the directions, particularly the little piece that is taken off when the battery connector is taken off....I did not use Windex to clean...wasn't sure what to use to put the Windex on....when I replaced the battery, I then tried to put the little contact clip back on. I think it goes on after I replace the battery clip....it seemed to just hang there.

My new battery is happily charging as is my WiFi and once it is 100% I plan to go back in and clean the metal pieces with a Q-Tip and windex. I still don't know why the end of the contact clip seemed to be away from the unit...I thought it was somehow attached to the unit

Would like some advice and specific instructions at this point if anyone has the time.
