reason(s) for home button assembly not fitting

After replacing screen, & in transfer of home button, the backing bridge, in particular, does not/can not lay flat against the glass....Why---& how to fix??

Not sure how to do that...... The best way I can describe it is: instead of the "wings" of the bridge, resting against the glass (pry-worthy), it looks as if it's levitating above the glass---with enough space in between to slide the stem of the mini-screwdrivers we use, underneath.
