The speaker is muffled on the iphone 5s when I hear people. They can hear me fine but they sound very distant when I hear them. I'm not sure whether it is the earpiece speaker or not. I opened up the phone to see if there was a loose connection between the earpiece speaker contacts and the earpiece speaker but there was not. The phone has been dropped a couple times.

Replace the ear speaker this should solve your problem

I just replaced the ear speaker and the problem continues.
