Whenever I put in my disk I hear the device working, but it fails to read my disk. I know the disk tray is not broken and is in the proper place. The disk is fairly old, but I don't think that is the cause.

Check to see if there are any scratches or dirt on your disk. If the disk looks okay, then clean the inside of your disk tray. If it's still not working then you should clean the laser lens.
