also have the error 53

I also have the error 53

My screen was never replaced- I DID replaced the flex cable-

Phone was dropped in water but no signs of corrosion- even the liquid sensors did not change color-

After the phone was dropped- i let the phone "dry out" I did not remover the battery BUT the phone worked fine for over a month with no lasting effects of the water-

The issue started when I "erased all content" through the phone- it locked up so I figured I would just update it-

This is where error 53 happened- it was bout 5-% done when the error popped up---

Nothing in the phone was corroded – I changed the flex cable because I read that was a common issue- but I didn’t fix mine…

Sounds very similar to my error 53 issue.

I swapped out a new LCD Shield plate which

had the home button cable and was able to then

restore. I assume that's what you also replaced

when you are talking about the flex cable? If you

have perhaps its related to the home button / Touch ID

assembly which can't be replaced to restore the device.

Yes put your original home button assembly back

into the new screen & you should be fine.

My phone is all original- straight from a sealed box from At&T- This error occurred out of nowhere while trying to upgrade from 8.1.2 to 8.2. I took the phone to a tech you tried to restore it using another iphone 6 screen (with home button assembly in tact) Still error 53 at 50%..

This is so frustrating and seems to be pretty common

I know how frustrating that is! Been there

before! You need to use the original home button

tho. It won't restore with a new screen that has a

different home button. Try that. It's possible while

there was no water damage that there might

have been to affect either the home button assembly

or the home button cable.

For me replacing the home button cable fixed

my error 53. That's where the issues I believe

are for you. My home button worked fine like yours

till I did a restore & it locked up on the error 53.
