Replaced battery but iPod does not charge

Changed the battery.

Connected orange ribbon cable connecting the headphone jack to the logic board.

Connected white battery connector back to the logic board.

What I get is a sad-faced iPod image on the screen has the apple.com/support/ipod link. This image alternates with the Apple logo.

I hear a 1-second spin sound, followed by a short click sound.

What else can I do?

natalia, " sad-faced iPod image on the screen has the apple.com/support/ipod link." and "I hear a 1-second spin sound, followed by a short click sound" sounds more like a hard drive error than a battery error. Run the diagnostic menu and see if it lets you access the hard drive. Here are great instructions about how to enter the diagnostic mode and what the results mean.

Thanks for useful resource link, oldturkey03!

Unfortunately, the iPod won't stay on -- even connected to an electrical outlet -- long enough to start the diagnostic test.

Any other options?

Gratefully.

natalia, try another battery and see if that makes a difference. Also, consider purchasing a USB adapter which will allow you to use your iPod's HDD as an external USB drive. See if you can access the drive. Not sure where you are located, but I do have a couple of logic boards and drive adapters. If you need to, I am willing to take a look at your iPod. Free of charge.

Swapped out old battery with new one.

Will try a USB adapter that you mentioned.

Thanks for continued ideas!
