iPhone 5s, error 40 after screen replacement.

I just changed the screen on my iPhone 5s. After I booted up I had no power. I plugged it into my PC and then opened iTunes. iTunes tells me that I needs to restore the phone, so naturally I do and when it gets to the "waiting for iPhone" it then quickly gives me the error 40 code. I don't know what to do, the screen also doesn't display anything properly, and by that I mean the apple logo, because its the only thing I get it to display(the phone turns on when this happens only when iTunes gets into the "waiting for iPhone" part).

I was very excited to get a hand-down iPhone 5s, then now I am very upset to find it kaput. I believe prfc: it makes sense that this error, "The iPhone" "could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (40).", indicates that flash memory is detaching / separating from mainboard. Boot code in ROM initiates backlight, screen is fully blank black. iTunes can attempt to install operating system to flash memory, is not successful (error 40) because memory package is becoming disconnected. How disheartening.

As of 2017-02-07, Apple (United States) repair price of iPhone 5s is $ 269. I am not capable of reflowing anything nearly as high-tech as iPhone. (I am a beginner solderer.) Maybe after next new iPhone is released, price for pre-used logic boards will be lower, and maybe iFixit will have them in stock.

Addition 2017-02-12: I thought "Not much to lose, go ahead and toast it!", spent last few hours trying to reflow my 5S logic board. I did not do it "the right way" by removing shield. I just blew it with hot air, shield still on, over where NAND package can be found. This was exercise was futile: iPhone still is useless, iTunes still results error 40. Here is a snapshot of iPhone screen, with its empty progress bar:

Hi...

Thanks for the video! My iPhone 5s showed no image (only backlight) when turned on and iTunes reported "error 40". I followed the procedure from your video and now when I turn on the phone it shows the iTunes icon. Nevertheless, iTunes doesn't recognise the phone when I plug it in. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Well I too had the same problem.... here is a temporary solution but still you will need to change your battery. You need to connect your iPhone 5s to iTunes in your Mac or PC and try restoring it for multiple times. I had done the same for almost 4-5 days and then it turned on. And keep it on charging at most times. Though it will turn on but still you will need to change your battery. ☺️''
