Loud audible spinning and vibration, top left corner

So my late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro starts vibrating/spinning loudly in the top left corner region. Checked the temp/fan speed/processes, and they seemed pretty normal to me. It's not definitely not the normal fan spinning up kind of feel, it seems pretty abnormal. Anyone know what might be the issue? GPU? CPU?

The left fan of my MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2008 was noisy and I wanted to replace it. I purchased a replacement fan from ifixit and used their manual. All was fine, but the manual / description does not tell you what to do if the 3.5 mm screws (Phillips00) have frozen / ceased. I contacted ifixit who suggested using a rubberband over the tip of the phillips00 screwdriver. That worked even though I had slightly stripped the screw head during previous tries. However, I could not remove a third screw using the rubberband technique nor using superglue to fix the screwdriver to the screw head. So I purchased the MicroGrabbit, #1257P, a screw extractor from Aldn.com. Cost $8.99 at a local hardware store. The technical support at aldn.com was helpful as well. The screw came out very easily. In short, when all else fails, this may be your viable solution to extracting difficult screws of small size. The website is www.aldn.com. I am just a happy customer and nobody asked me to write this. I'm providing it as a helpful hint. Tom Simpson
