What is best way to clean dirty ports?

Dust/dirt gets into the charging and jack ports and eventually disrupts the contacts for charging. What is the safest way to clean these? I heard there is a special vacuum for this, and other suggestions are to use a small brush which doesn't really get all of the dirt. Suggestions please?

The headphone jack is cleanable easy enough with a q-tip with most of the cotten pulled off so it can fit in the port. You should use 95% and above alcohol as the cleaning agent.

The charge port is tricky to try to clean with a q-tip. So don't use a q-tip to clean that port. Pressurized air is the best way to clean this port.

Of course you want to do your maintenance while the phone is off less you cause damage.

roll scotch tape into a cone shape. stick small end of cone in phone headphone or charging port. I get lots of lint out every few months.

Dear Q.,

I cleaned my iPad charging port by taking a Colgate Wave Sensitive toothbrush and brushing in the port; after a dry run, I lightly covered the toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide and shook off the excess, then brushed inside the port to clean it the rest of the way.

I don’t know if using hydrogen peroxide was good or not, but it seemed to help clean the port a lot more: Not having disconnect problems with the port now.

Take care, With love Through God and Jesus and The Holy Ghost,

Use compressed air or use blow into it

Carefully watch the breathing of your camel. After he exhales, push the charge port against his nostril and pinch the flaps closed along the sides of the phone. Hold phone tightly so the ensuing vacuum doesn't pull phone deep up his nose. Immediately remove phone before the next exhale or you'll have to start over. My reindeer have killed a few of my phones that way- I'm getting old and slower. Signed S. Claus
