My ipod wont get off of the iTunes screen and I don't know why. I tried to update it one day, but it didn't go back to its original screen. So now its not even connecting to my laptop.

if you can get your laptop to recognize the device, just restore it..
... possibly it is in DFU mode, charge it up, then hold the home plus power buttons until it boots up...
also try a different cable or computer...
