Preguntas 548 Ver todo

Not Boot Sound, and No display.

I have recently replaced the HD in this device because of failure. The replacement drive is a solid state drive. I Also did a memory upgrade at this time.

After replacing the parts I am getting no boot chime or video output (externally or to the internal LCD). I have taken the device apart a couple times looking for loose connections, but nothing appears to be amiss.

Also the diagnostics LED's are as follows, LED#1 Green LED#2 Green LED#3 Green LED#4 nothing (never lights up and never flashes).

Fan speeds are normal also.

How can I troubleshoot this further? I am contemplating purchasing the video cable, and wondering if anyone can provide some feedback.

THANK YOU!

Can you give us a bit more on why you think the HD failed here. Was the display still working and you had a blinking question mark?

The HD was showing up in boot disk utility or from the shell using diskutil list. Then once I removed the drive from the iMac I placed it into an 3.5 drive carriage and it would spin up and then head would crash. Correct the display was working before the disassemble. No blinking question mark, I loaded the utilities from the original disk that came with the iMac.

Go over all your connections again. Only you can tell if you damaged or tor a connector off the logic board. There are many connectors that must be "right" to get the display to work. (data display cable, 4 inverter cables, inverter board) Check step 9 that you didn't pierce the cable with the screw at reassembly. Often with reassembly problems connectors (connections) that were believed to be good were not snapped in, square or ribbon connectors were not fully inserted, locked right side up.

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

I will go over everything again tonight and report back. I have torn it down a couple times now. I marked all four inverter cables to be sure to plug them back into their corresponding location. The only portion I can see that went wrong would be I have misplaced the two screws that hold down the data display cable. I have since replaced them with different screws. Thank you for your response.
