Rear Camera does not autofocus after battery replacement
Hi,
Last week I replaced the battery on my iPhone 5 by following the guide and did not have any issues at the time. I am now finding that my rear camera does not autofocus on close up objects.
I have already opened the device and reattached the 3 cables at the top (digitiser etc.) to see if this made any difference but it has not.
I have also tried tapping and banging the phone as directed elsewhere on this site but again no joy.
Does anyone know what could be causing this issue?
Any insights much appreciated!

Have you checked for a spec of dust on the lens? This will usually take it out of focus.

I ran into the same issue after changing the battery on an iPhone SE. My suspicion is that some of the adhesive remover got into the camera module. Once it evaporated, it might have left behind some adhesive and now the mechanical focus inside the lens is stuck.

I had the same experience and have the same suspicion as Jonathan Flower--I squirted some isopropyl in to soften the battery adhesive, but it got everywhere. Camera initially had liquid droplets in it, then once it dried it did not focus properly again. I'm now opening the phone again to install a replacement camera ... :(
