New hard drive problem 6th gen 80GB

i've got a new hard drive from ebay to replace the broken one, i(nicely) replaced the hard drive, and flex is fine. But i can't format the hard drive in disk mode and if i diagnostic it it says Can't Open Device Diag Halt how to fix this? what to do next?
