1 iPod Touch 5Gen wont power on...weird!

at first the ipod was showing power, but whenever I plugged charger in to charge it, there was nothing. The iPod doesnt recognize the charger. I cleaned the port out and still same.
Any help? Thanks

It was the lightning cable port that was defective.
