There are a variety of tools used for the teardown.
1. Heat gun to loosen the glue holding the digitizer. (better and faster than a hair dryer)
2. Metal/Plastic spudgers and guitar pic type spudjers (assortment)

3. Screwdriver set.
4. Suction cup
5. scraper for glue/adhesives
Those are the basic tools required for a tear down. The iOpener kit is a great kit.
