Won't Start Up. Reset PRAM & PMU
iBook G4 with OSX10.4 System. Begins to start can har chime / disk spin & screen lights with Apple symbol. Then freezes. Must force computer to shut-down.

Start up from your system installation disk by inserting disk and restart holding down the "C" key. Go to the second screen pull down menu Utilities - disk utility and repair the disk. Repair the permission for good measure. If that fails, reinstall the system.

Try a safe (shift) boot
If successful & there were any changes or additions to software before the hang started undo them. Run Disk Utility->DFA verify disk and repair permissions.
If not backup your data your HD or hardware could be failing.
