I just had my battery replaced on my iphone 5 but now the bluetooth signal drops when the iphone is turned to a side. If I hold the iphone vertically in front of my and the turn it 90 degrees to the side the bluetooth signal drops, if turn it immediately it returns. Could the tech have messed something when he changed the battery?

Maybe. But I doubt anything he did may have caused this issue. Was the bluetooth working fine before?
Try doing a power cycle (unhook battery and hook back up). If that doesnt work try resetting network settings (doing this, you will have to enter all network SSID and passwords). If that doesnt work try to reset all setting on phone ( be sure to have a backup. EVERYTHING will be deleted)
If you dont have the latest (7.1) try upgrading to see if that will fix it.
