Bought new battery, keep getting black X, and MacBook won't stay on.

Hi everyone,

I see that others have more or less the same problems that I have been having with my macbook, however I am still having a difficult time pinpointing my issue. So a few months back I spilled some water near my macbook, although it wasn't directly on it the macbook got wet. After everything dried out, I attempted to turn on the computer but the battery would show the black x and then the computer would shut off. I tried to remove the battery and run it on the Magsafe, but the light would switch orange and green and the computer would not stay on. I brought it to the Genius Bar and they said everything was ok with the hardware and that it was the battery. (They kept the computer on without the battery on their magsafe power). So now I bought a new battery and the same issue - the battery wont charge and the computer will not stay on. Oddly enough when I run the AHT the computer stays on for a while. The results of my AHT showed the 4SNS/1/40000000:TBOT error. Any ideas/tips would be great!

4SNS/1/40000000:TBOT error code means that the computer is not detecting the bottom thermal sensor. Try rebooting the system and resetting the system PRAM and see if it clears.

Try this Answer. Sometimes a new battery fails right out of the box, especially cheap ones.

I tried the updater, however still no change. The battery is a new battery from apple, so it isn't a cheap one. It says that there is a battery present, but its not drawing power from it nor is it charging it.
