Can't remove front glass to replace battery

I just bought the battery replacement kit for my iPhone 5. I've followed the instructions as to (trying) to pull up glass with suction cup. I've resorted to substantial force, even using a screwdriver in the suction cup ring to pull on, and I can't seem to get the glass to budge. Any tips?

So I finally managed to pull the front panel. I went thru replacing the battery. My God, those screws are small!!! Put everything back together.....plugged in and the iPhone did not boot, but emitted a series of "dings" about 10 seconds apart. So I went back in....took everything apart....reseated all the connections...and same thing. Now, I'm scared that I really f----d up my phone. So I went back in and replaced the new battery with the old one and the phone works as it had previously. I'm relieved but wondering if I didn't reseat everything properly when I installed the new battery, or if it was a bum battery.

Just pull.

There is a recess above the headphone jack, pull the glass upwards enough to reveal the recess and insert a guitar pick. Pry along the way to unclip the glass.

Do not pull too hard, one slip and the glass pops open, you'll break the cable. Do not use any metal tools to pry the display, there will be ugly scars on the frame

Well,

There should be two screws located at the end of the phone you have to remove.

After that, make sure your pulling on the right end of the phone, the end that lifts up.

Please don't use a screwdriver on your phone it is only going to mar the edges look around for something plastic you may have. Look in the kitchen maybe a thin metal frosting spreader, put a piece of tape over the metal. It should pop up

Thanks for advice. I did remove the screws. I am pulling at the home button end. There is no visible recess above the headphone jack and I can't seem to raise the glass panel at all with the suction cup even with significant force
