Preguntas 462 Ver todo

Why does Playstation 3 slim shut down seconds after start up.?

Ok. Plugging the cord into the wall brings up the red stand-by light. Pressing the power button you can hear the fan start up for a moment, then about 5 seconds later it shuts down. Red stand-by light disappears. Must unplug, then plug cord back into outlet for red light to reappear. I have bought a Power Supply Unit but that did not fix it. I do believe it was a different model then the one that was in it if that matters. Is it the power cord? The Power Supply? The Power Ribbon? Please help so desperate :(

I also have similar problem, PS3 shuts down with same behavior with some sound.

Have the same problem , tried this and no improvement ..... What's next

- de

Try with another power supply.

My PS3 been out for a year I did turn my scew clockwise stripping it its shuts off immediately I replace the PSU I might need a reflow or new mobo

- de

I think its the CMOS battery, having the same issue right now. If you plug out the battery and let it “reset” for about 20 seconds then you will be able to start up gain. When you shut the PS3 down however it will return to the previous state. So i’m thinking i need to renew the battery...

Hi,

Probably you have a problem with the Power Supply. I don't now the model of your PS3 but there is one solution for this with PS APS-250. I think that APS-270 is the same but I am not shure. If the model of your PS is the same you can try. First disassemble the PS. In the up-middle side you can see two potentiometers. Mark them and turn them left arround 5 degrees.

I uploaded some pictures here.

Here's how to Unplug the power supply:

I had success with this problem by doing the following. When you boot up the system hold the power button down, do not just press button and wait for it to shut off, just hold it down. I had to do this several times but I’d say on about the third time of just pressing and holding the button my home screen finally came on and I was able to let go of it without ps3 turning off. Hope this helps

same here, is there a permanent solution tho?

I just replaced the thermal compound on mine today. It didn't want to start up properly afterwards but did eventually - now seems to back to normal. I had several weeks trying various remedies including a good clean out and adjusting the potentiometers. Try the easier stuff first then replace the thermal compound if all else fails. I found a good 35 step guide to stripping it down to the chips, cleaning off with alcohol and replacing with new compound. It takes a while but if you follow the guide carefully and put all the removed screws in some sort of order you can revive your PS3.

please can I have the actual site (with the 35 step guide) that you used to fix your problems plus may I ask if it still works since you did re apply thermal compound? Mine used to come on so much so I could start a game but once I do it goes off as it starts. Last month I played God of War 3 from beginning and played for almost 15 minutes then I got the overheating warning and switched off. since then I dont put it on again to check

Same lol, might try the potentiometers, but I’ll say it seems like the same symptoms of fried electrolytic capacitors. 🤷🏻‍♂️

As far as I have been able to find, this sort of problem is either the cpu or the graphic processor, to fix you have to reflow the solder.. problem may be fixed by just cleaning out the old thermal compound and reapplying but only if the solder is intact.. and if you have the machine open you may as well reflow the solder while your at it.. I have read and watched so many vids on how to do this and still haven't done it yet. I know they recommend using 'no clean flux', but before doing anything remove the PRAM battery clean everything well, clean off old compound with isopropyl alcohol.. and if this doesn't work then I don't know what it could be..

I'm sure someone more learned in this field would have the answer.

I took my air compressor to mine it was doing the same thing blew out all the vents without even taking it apart plugged it back in it worked perfectly. But you got to blow out all vents on all four sides plus all the hookups + inside of the CD insert as well.

My PS3 (250X) only turns on when I have it in a certain position on my desk. If it's not in the correct position, it will turn on, and a few seconds later, shut off. I've rebuilt and changed the PSU, replaced the thermal paste, cleaned it multiple times, changed the disk tray, and changed the hard drive but it still won't work normaly. I forgot to mention that it still turns off after a few minutes even though it's in a good position. I have no idea why it would be doing this but it would be great to get some help.

I had ps3 which used to shuts off automatically when I play games for 10 min.. And ps3 will completely shuts off without any red or yellow light.... But the most amazing thing happened that after 1 month of issue... Suddenly it started working fine and still working fine without any issue.... What exactly happened to my ps3 and how the !&&* it got fixed by itself

This is unbelievable but I got around this issue by doing this:

  1. Immediately you turn on the PS3, press the eject button to eject the blue ray disc.
  2. Once you eject the blueray disc, the PS3 stays on but you won't see anything.
  3. Turn the PS3 off with the disc still ejected, and then reset the PS3 (turn on and hold till it beeps)
  4. After it resets, and turns on, you can reinsert the disc and enjoy.

Green light stays on for a second and then no light, the console completely shuts down. Pressing the power button again turns on the red light. Pressing it again repeats the cycle. What could be the problem?

Repeated cycle. By the way this only happrn to me in a atemp to delid RSX with no luck, re applying tgermal paste and reassembling. Please help

I also have the same problem , I dismantled cleaned out dust ,done thermal paste , checked resistor on both chip lines (seen this fix on you tube) , still just the same been trying for a week .

I had had a gut full fitted all up ready to bin it , last resort I dropped it from about 200mm on the desk then hit the lid a few time not gently , bugger me it turns on been running it all day still all good .

Has to be some loose component on the board ,have read about reflowing the main chips , maybe starting it up while apart with heavy weight on main chips might make it work ,if it goes find someone or try yourself to reflow

I also also have the same issue but now my ps3 just died and no matter how much I plug it in it doesn't boot

I moved my potentiometers but, unfortunately did not mark them before moving. So now I have no idea where they were to begin with.. I feel like I should not have moved them.. the machine still turns on sometimes.. anyone got any advice on this. Photos of where they should be would be great I'm going off the cross indent in the top of the potentiometer, mine is a plus instead of a cross. I have turned it towards the blue square thing on the end, while holding the unit with the potentiometers towards the top.

I hope I have explained this well.

Please help me.

It could be the blue ray player because everything runs throught it we checked the power supply and even used a 12 volt cource that had the same amout of amps and still had the same problem with the ps3 meaning it could most likely be the blueray player

It is not the power supply…if it were the power supply the fan would not boot up when you start it... Now to fix it we got two options… option one open it up get down to the processor buy a kit and fix it with that…option 2 you can take a hair dryer for 30 minutes blow it in the vents taking a break every 8 minutes for 5 minutes when you're done it should work it works 90% of the time I hope this helps…

mine just doesn’t turn on if i put the original hard disk in there, i formatted it already on pc and it just took me to an screen saying that the hard drive need to be formatted, today i had no other choice so format it again via pc and reformat it in ps3, ps3 turns on good without the disk but, if i put again the disk, it just do what connor said. don’t know what happening, i think that i’m gonna test a new hard drive to see what happens

well, where to begin… (might fix slim ps3 aswell) fyi bare with me i tried to explain it as best as i could. first time trying to fix a ps3

I thought eitherly the power supply or applying thermal paste would solve my problem but, no. I messed with my PS3 and this is what helped me. 1. take Panasonic battery out for like 30 sec. 2. clean dust. 3. Tweak black and white cables beaneath power supply. 4. Underneath the fan there are 2 tin squares (they both have to be touching each other along with a small plate next to one of them). 5. On the power supply tweak a white screw/potentiometer. Saving tons of data now!
