Is the black shield repairable that is behind the front LCD glass?

While frustrated upon receiving a defective LCD I quickly removed it with a flathead screw driver. I scratched the black material behind the LCD. I figured this would make some of the touch defective and it did. Some letters on my phone do not work now is there a way to repair the scratched surface under the LCD?

You scratched the glass? or the LCD? The glass shouldn't be removed so harsh. And the letters don't light up or do not respond to the touch.

no not the glass, its the kinda grayish material the mirror behind the lcd sits on, it's on the chassis.

and you're say its preventing you? I think you might of damaged your LCD flex ribbon. I say try buying that piece and replacing it. Ive had it scratched before and it had no effect on the display or touch.
