Water Damage, what needs replacing?

Ok, so a few months ago my phone went swimming....forgot to take it out of my pocket unfortunately. Anyways, stupid mistakes aside, I put it in rice for a week to dry out and it started to work again. Now unfortunately however, the battery drains quickly (4-5 hours with minimum use) and it overheats randomly (can feel it getting very warm in my pocket). I bought a second battery so I have to swap batteries throughout the day just in order for me to make it home with a charge.

What do you guys think the problem components are that need to be replaced to extend the battery life and stop the overheating?

Thanks

my guess is the battery still has some residual moisture in it. try drying it out (again) rice, blowdryer set to medium, or any of the many listed drying methods listed on this site. sometimes when the batt gets wet and shorts out(due to water making cross contact) it pretty much kills it. I have seen a build-up of corrosion in the internals that has caused many a heat up headache.if you have had it open make sure to clean the contacts and check for crud(that's a technical term) around where you plug it in to charge. you can try a few complete drain to zero and full recharge cycles and if that doesn't work and replace it.

however any phone the takes a swim- if it does make it back to the working world once again,is usually on borrowed time- not all but most. make sure that you back up all data on it (contacts, picts).

Well I know it isn't the battery because I have bought several new batteries and they all last about the same amount of time. It is something internally causing a short and draining the battery I believe.

I was just looking for a way to extend the life on this phone, but I am going to try to get one of Google's new Nexus 5 phones when they are released so hopefully I only need to get a little more than a month out of this phone.
