Earpiece Buzzing After Screen Change

I am part of an iPhone repair company so we do hundreds of these, but recently a few of our iPhone 5 repairs have come back with buzzing earpiece problems. We have changed the earpiece and this is happening on both original and copy earpieces, including the one on the original broken screen. We use gloves at all times so theres no chance of any oil and we have cleaned all connectors etc. We have obviously gone down the restore path too and upgraded it to iOS 7 but the earpiece still buzzes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, this really has us stumped as we have done many before this and have never had this issue

Hi

I found the problem with this fault, seems when the speaker is taken out and refitted it vibrates on the LCD screen panel, I placed a small piece of felt tape between the speaker and front facing camera flex, now vibrate free, working fine and back to normal.

You should check if the rubber and mesh that the earpiece rests on are glued together.

It would appear its part of the speaker assembly vibrating but I still don't know what caused it, I ended up handing it back to the customer as I couldn't fix it

Hi, thanks for the info, I've just ordered some foam tape to see if this will help, I may even try a new screen just incase it is the little silver ear piece mesh vibrating, really frustrating, had 3 of these now and they just cannot be fixed at this point. I'll keep you updated if I find anything or if anything rectified the fault

Hi,

Fairly sure it's not the mesh as I replaced the original screen and it was still occurring strangely

Why don't you simply replace the whole earpiece?

If you read the initial problem we tried this and it's still happening with both genuine Apple and copies.

Darn, I should've placed something near it.

What I did is press my lips against the ear piece and blow slightly, adding a little pressure to push the speaker slightly.

Though do this at your own risk that the speaker might completely leave the hole it's wedged inside of.

Seems to have fixed for me on my 5S.

P.S. excuse the necro but I couldn't find any other thread about this. Hopefully my addition will help others.
